Just me again… !

I had to delete almost all the subscribers sorry. Somehow KJ got herself onto a spam list and the seite has been bombarded with ‘comment spam’ recently.

I deleted 65 attempts to join/spam the blog just this morning!

No doubt when KJ decides she wants to use her blog/website again we can reopen it for membership, but until then you’ll just have to contact her by the usual means – oki? :)

Where’d she go?

The last post on here was a long time ago and you may be wondering why. Actually, it’s not so hard to understand really, basically KJ just went off skating.

None of us have any real idea why she decided not to continue and all of us (except KJ) are very upset by it. She was a natural on the ice and could have really done very well if she’d kept up with her training etc.

Still, can’t be helped and kids can’t be forced to do things like skating when their hearts aren’t in them.

Perhaps in a year or two she’ll realise she really was pretty good and make the attempt to get back on the ice and carry on where she left off. It’d be hard, but I think she could do it if she really set her mind to it. In the meantime… I think the Sk8r Grrl’s blog will be closing down.

Hope to see you again some day… but until then, thanks for dropping by. :)

Wow… so long?

Has it really been five months since anyone wrote in the blog? Seems so!

Karmah has done a few competitions since that time but sadly didn;t place in any of them. However last Wednesday she *did* pass the first of her NSWISA tests, the ‘Preliminary’ so she is now officially on her way to becoming a ‘Junior’.

Might not sound a lot but it’s one step at a time.

Competition News

Things have been a little quiet for the past few weeks which is why nobody has updated the blog recently. However Sk8r Grrl entered two competitions this month. One at Macquarie Ice Rink, the other at Penrith Ice Palace.

We are proud to announce she won her division at Macquarie, and came second at Penrith. If anything the second place was harder won because the competition was far larger and had she not lost two points by ‘skipping’ a jump she would have won that as well!

Of course she still has a long way to go before we’d claim she is a ‘significant’ skater. Currently she is still competing at the ‘Preliminary Level’ but in October she will be taking the two tests she needs in order to open up the path to the extended comptition circuit, and the higher levels of difficulty. From there on it’ll just require hard work and perseverance. Even at 8 years old she is showing the promise that she *could* go far, but of course also at that age who knows what distractions will pop up to divert her attention to other activities? :)

Karmah at PenrithThis photo is of her ‘second place’ at Penrith but she wore the same dress to Macquarie as well… the only real difference is that the grin at Macquarie was a lot wider.

So tired.

KayJay has missed a few or her morning sessions this week. I think she’s been more tired than she let on and the excitement of those early starts has worn a bit thin!

Maybe if she was entering more competitions she’s feel more like pushing herself, but we’re happy for her to make her own pace and if she wants to lie in then she can.

We’ll be going to watch a competition on Monday, but it’ll be a few weeks before she’ll be taking part in one herself. Of course then we’ll have more idea if all this practice is paying off! :)

KayJay feeling better!

As you can see, Sk8r Grrrl is feeling a lot better. Ankle and finger healed up nicely and she’s back practicing! :)

KayJay doing splits

This girl is quite flexible. It’s painful for me to even watch her do this sort of stuff!!

Another Day

Well it was like a normul sunday and we wenrt do much untill my friend rang up and she asted me if i could go to her house for the day and i said yes for some strang reason and well i am going over to her house at 1:00 and first we are going to have some lunch at 12:00 and i wont to have some lovly tosted ham and cheese croissant witch is so,so nice to eat …

i wock up and i went into the back room and wached some t.v and i love to wach t.v it is so cool!!! and we always wach some t.v in the morings and near 8:00 and 9:0 but the movie normely tackes about 2 houers so we stay up untill 11:00!!!

Doing stretches.

Well as you know i do skating and it is very fun in some of the bits we do off-ice and we do stretches and they hurt and we do jumps and some really cool stuff …BUT IT HURT’S…but some of the thing are cool and i will name then for you: axles, jumps, up and down, sit up, push up and lifting my leg above my head that hurts you too…

First it was her finger…

First little KayJay fell in school and broke a finger. That took a couple of weeks to mend but seems ok now. Today I had another call from school to say she’d fallen off some rocks and sprained her ankle!

I don’t think it’s too serious… currently she’s upstairs watching a movie and eating ice-cream… but we’ll be going to the docs ‘as soon as’ just to give it the once over anyway. Let’s hope she won’t need x-rays and the like and she recovers quickly.

I’ve rung Galina to let her know we’ll probably not make the lesson tomorrow, even if it isn’t broken it *is* still sprained badly, and that I’ll have to let her know whether she’ll be able to get there on Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning.

How this kid manages to damage herself so competently is amazing! :)

They’re gonna put me in the movies!

Finally I’ve been sorting out the videos we’ve taken of Karmah skating over the past couple of years. Once they are on the computer I’ll collate them, make some compilations and upload them to YouTube or similar for people to be able to see them.

It’s quite funny watching them at the Xmas Show in Norwest two years ago… Karmah could hardly skate then but still was clearly showing ‘ability’. These movies are quite interesting.

Of course, it’ll take a while to get them ready. So far only 6 have been copied and there are 40+ lying on the desk! But at least you know they’re on their way… don’t hold your breath tho this could take more weeks yet! :)
